Over the last 30 years laminate has proved itself as leader in the flooring category due to it’s overall durability and low cost. It is produced with a click together locking system to provide D-I-Y customers with the ability to save on professional labour costs.

Laminate is made up of several layers including the HDF (high density fiberboard) core with a bottom backing layer that provides stability and moisture resistance. The decorative layer is mounted on top of this core and then covered by the wear layer.

These layers are then laminated together under extreme heat and pressure to produce a rigid plank or tile. The top translucent wear layer contains varying degrees of aluminum oxide to provide the product with a super durable finish that is unmatched by other products. These wear layers are rated as AC 1, AC 2, AC 3, AC 4, and AC 5. The higher Abrasion Class products offer more protection against fading as well as overall wear and tear.

Some manufacturers of laminate even add a waxed edge for enhanced protection against moisture, spills and over cleaning. The wax seals the edge of the board on all four sides to prolong the life of your floor.
